The Pup and the Kitten

~A story written by my niece, Autumn Rose~

Once there was a dog named Henrey. He thought he had the best life.
“Ah, I have the best life,” said Henrey. “I think I might take a nap. Pillow, please.”
“Here you go, Henrey,” said Autumn, “have a nice nap.”

Then Autumn heard a knock on the door. She opened the door, and there in the cold snow was a baby kitten. Autumn picked it up and brought it inside. She said, “Henrey, you’d better be nice to this kitten.” Then Autumn left the kitten with Henrey and went into the kitchen.

When she left, Henrey just laid there. The kitten said, “My name is Snowball. What’s yours?”
“Henrey,” said Henrey sleepily.
“As you can see, I’m spotted,” Snowball said.
“You see I’m the prettiest dog ever,” said Henrey even sleepier the second time.

Snowball jumped on the stand next to her that had a vase on it. The vase fell and broke into little pieces. Then Autumn heard the noise and ran into the room. She said, “What are you two doing?”
Snowball said, “It wasn’t me. Please don’t be mad at me.”
“Henrey!” Autumn screamed.

The next day was Saturday. Everybody in the family comes over on Saturday to have dinner. At 5:00 everyone started showing up. When Autumn started making dinner, everybody heard a big crash! Autumn’s favorite flower vase with all her favorite flowers broke.
It was Snowball again, but again she said, “It wasn’t me. Please do not get mad at me.”
And again, Autumn yelled, “Henrey!”

The next day was Sunday. Autumn went to church and left Henrey and Snowball at home. When she left, Henrey growled and barked. He said in a mean voice, “I’m gonna eat you!”
Then Autumn came home and saw Henrey cornering Snowball. Snowball jumped on the library book and tore out a page. Autumn said, “Snowball.”
“I’m sorry, Henrey,” Autumn said, “for not believing you.”
Henrey said, “Now look who’s in trouble.”
“I am very sorry,” Snowball said to Autumn. Then she hissed to Henrey, “I’ll get you back.”
Autumn didn’t hear. She said, “I’m going to the store. Be good.”

After Autumn left, Snowball jumped on Henrey’s head and started biting his ears. Surprisingly, Henrey started laughing! Then he barked and ran in circles.
When Autumn got home, she said, “Oh, my gosh! What did you two do?” Then Autumn kicked them outside.

The next day, Snowball and Henrey apologized to each other. Then they both went to Autumn and said they were sorry. Autumn said, “Can you guys behave?” They told her they could. Autumn said, “Are you going to destroy my house?”
“No,” they answered.

The next day, they were inside the house. They were both nice and cuddly. Autumn said, “I am very sorry.”
Next they got on their coats and got all bundled up and went outside to play. When they got back in, they had hot cocoa and took a nap together. Snowball couldn’t get comfy, so she went over to Henrey and lie down on his head and fell asleep.

The End
