Ok, so you remember how I was telling you about how Cleo went to the vet the other day for her infection and she met the cats and everything. Well, she was really cool with the cats in the vet -- the four really huge cats -- and the other cats that were brought in and out. I don't know if she was just really scared because she was at the vet's office, but she was really quite calm. She didn't get puffy or anything -- she just kind of shook.
And then, after the vet, we went over to my sister's house for just a minute because they had to pick a few things up form her place. She has a plethora of animals -- four cats, four dogs, one fish, and the rest of the litter that Cleo was from outside in the garage, and Cleo's pregnant mother (hence, she's going to have another litter) -- and Cleo was really cool with most of her cats, too. The dogs were let out to go to the bathroom for a few minutes.
When the four dogs were let back in, Cleo climbed up on top of my head and sat there, scared to death of those strange alien beings that were so very hyper. In reality, they were just excited to see me since they haven't seen me in a while (between school, work, and the weather, I haven't really had lots of time to visit any of my siblings). But Cleo didn't understand that. And they didn't understand that she was scared. But Cleo still didn't puff up -- she just sat on top of my head, hissing. Autumn had a can of silly string, and she sprayed it at Marsha, and I was right next to where my sister got sprayed. I, not thinking, ducked to avoid having that gooey ick all over me. Cleo climbed down my back.
I had to put her on the floor for a minute so that I could untangle myself from the leash that we had her on. Two of the dogs, Aspen and Lucy, decided to come up and say, "HI!" to her. Cleo properly freaked out, hissing, spitting, and puffing. It was probably one of the funniest things I've ever seen. I felt bad for my kitty, but I still think that it's quite funny. And she starts to jump around, and I tried to get her to hold her to me to calm her down, and she either bit my thumb or scratched it -- it was honestly a little hard to tell.
I gave her a few minutes, standing between her and the two dogs. She was still spitting and hissing away, puffed up as big as could be. It wasn't until my brother-in-law said that I'd have to get a blanket to get her out of the house that I scooped her up and cuddled her close to me. She calmed down right away.
She was pretty listless when we finally brought her home. The vet said that it would be normal if that happened. But she was to the point where I had to get her and bring her into my room at night for bed. And then she just sort of... laid there on the stuffy where I put her. She didn't purr, she didn't knead the blankets, she didn't even come lay on me. She just sort of flopped there. Poor kitty!
The next day, she slept on one of the kitchen chairs for almost the whole day. Aside form getting a few treats and using the litter box and eating/drinking, she just slept. It was strange, considering she runs around the house like a horse on a track. It does sound like we have the Kentucky Derby when she runs through the house because she makes so much noise. It was very strange not having her do that the other night.
Today, she was a little more herself. She ran around and played with some her toys and batted things around. She got really excited when she got her treats today. She was back to walking on her hind legs to get them, a trick that she has mastered and a huge indicator that she wants some treats. She gobbles those things like a toddler gobbles candy when mummy and daddy aren't looking.
Right now, Cleo's asleep on the back of the couch next to me like she usually is. I just hope my kitty gets back to "normal" soon!
