Cost of Dreams

JFK drawingBorn on the 29th of May in 1917, John F. Kennedy lived a relatively care-free life. Did he ever think his life would end as soon as it did and in the manner that it did?
The man known as Jack Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963 as the nation watched in horror. That is perhaps what he is best known for, and is a scandal in and of itself.
Is it known that Jack was the youngest president that the nation has ever had? Or that he was the only Roman Catholic?
Kennedy graduated from Harvard in 1940 and enlisted in the Navy. Three years after, his boat was marooned on an island. Although he was gravely injured himself, Kennedy led his men to safety. From that day on, he suffered from chronic back problems.
When he returned from the war, he became a Democratic Congressman and advanced to the Senate in 1953 where he met and married his wife Jacqueline Bouvier. In 1656 he almost became Vice President, and four years later became the top democratic candidate. He won by only a weak margin.
He was not in office many days, only nearly a thousand. While he was in office, however he did many things. He was able to deflect the Cuban Missile Crisis. At the time, this was a very large endeavor. The nation was in the midst of a Cold War. He was greatly for the Civil Rights movement, and was popular with many of the African Americans.
Because of the great stress that was put on him during his short time in office, there were also many negative things that float around. They range from everything from illicit affairs to drugs to secret Mob connections. Of course there is that ever famous “Magic Bullet” which is claimed to have not only killed Kennedy, but also wounded Governor Connelly and the motorcade driver.
Perhaps the person that Kennedy is most famous for having an affair with is the ever voluptuous Marilyn Monroe. The two were supposedly introduced by Frank Sentara at the Cal-Nevada club. The two were supposed to have met there several times for secret trysts. There is no real proof that this ever really happened, though it is awfully suspicious that Monroe met with a tragic end not long before Kennedy himself. Was it suicide because she knew something so great that it drove her to it? Or did she know something she shouldn’t have and she was murdered? It is unknown. Kennedy is also rumored to have used drugs and slept with a woman who was friends with Mobsters.
It is truly unknown who it was that killed Kennedy that fateful day. Lee Harvey Oswald, the man that police arrested, was killed not long after by Jack Ruby. The truth will never be known. The secret was taken to Oswald’s grave.
Scandals aside, Kennedy was a great man and did very much for this nation. Sadly, he was robbed of his chance to show what he could really do. While it may never be know if these things that float abound his head are true, the good things he was able to accomplish will never be forgotten.
